Message Yes, the weight of the car does not change is a correct statement. However, the force applied to the tire changes as you apply more power. If it takes X amount of power to overcome the friction applied to a given surface area, an increase in area would provide an increase in resistance. The force applied to the tire that causes a loss of traction is lateral (for the most part, let`s keep this as simple as it can be. I know it is affected by vehicle weight), not vertical. THink in terms of vector dynamics and it makes more sense. The X vector is force, the Y vector is resistance. The longer the Y vector, the higher the Y/X ratio. If X(power) can`t overcome Y(resistance), you have no loss of traction.
